ATTENTION: The 2010 Harbor Lights Triathlon Has Been Cancelled

Chicago, IL— The 9th annual Harbor Lights Triathlon that was to take place on July 25, 2010 in Waukegan, IL has been regrettably cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances throughout the course.  The Harbor Lights Triathlon was set to start and finish in Waukegan’s lakefront park, and included a 600-meter swim, 13.2-mile bike and a 4-mile run.

Unbeknownst to the event organizers, the City of Waukegan, in developing the adjoining lake front property, has elected to abandon beach maintenance and water safety/lifeguard services, as well as demolish roadways key to both the triathlon bike and run course. CAPRI was notified of these changes and conditions in a meeting with the City of Waukegan yesterday, May 19th.

After a thorough review of potential course revisions, none were available that would provide a safe alternative to the original course, and therefore, all athletes registered in the 2010 Harbor Lights Triathlon will receive refunds for their race entries, within the next two weeks.
